For more than thirty years Burke novelised a large number of stage plays, film and TV scripts. One of which was a Hollywood film The Lion of Sparta (1961; the film was released as The 300 Spartans) This is the book version of that film. Written by John Burke, THE 300 SPARTANS adapts the screenplay. It’s interesting for the scenes it includes that the movie doesn’t. It’s also unusual in that while much of the story is typical third person, Burke includes chapters related by Megistias, the seer, in first-person narrative.
